Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Vibe (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, apps, and related features (the “Service”).

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by Vibe.

Contact: vibeapponline@gmail.com

2. Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated by your use of the Service, and information from third parties (where applicable).

A. Information you provide

  • Account information: email address, username, display name, password (stored as a cryptographic hash), and profile settings.
  • Profile content: bio, avatar, banner, links, and other profile details you choose to add.
  • User-generated content: posts, comments, blogs, stories, attachments (images/video/audio), and related metadata (timestamps, IDs).
  • Direct messages: messages and attachments you send/receive through the Service.
  • Support & reports: reports you submit (including a reason/details) and messages you send to support.

B. Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and technical data: IP address, user-agent/device/browser information, log data, and approximate location derived from IP address (if available).
  • Cookies and local storage: used to keep you signed in, protect the Service, and remember certain preferences (see “Cookies & advertising” below).

C. Payments and monetization

If you use monetization features (such as subscriptions, verification upgrades, Stars, or creator earnings), payment processing is handled by third-party processors (see “Third parties”). We may store payment-related metadata such as transaction references, amounts/currency, subscription status and renewal timestamps, and payout/withdrawal request records.

For recurring billing (where available), we may store a reusable payment authorization token/code provided by the payment processor (for example, a Paystack authorization code) and a processor customer identifier. We do not store full card numbers.

Important: some payment methods do not provide a reusable authorization for future charges. In those cases, auto-renewal may not work and your subscription/verification access may end when the paid period expires unless you renew manually. If you want auto-renewal to work, consider using a payment method that typically supports recurring charges (for example, a card payment).

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (including creating accounts, rendering feeds, and delivering content).
  • Enable social features (follows, likes, comments, bookmarks, groups/clubs, and messaging).
  • Send operational emails (e.g., login/verification codes, security notifications).
  • Process payments, subscriptions, Stars, and withdrawals where available.
  • Prevent abuse, spam, and fraud; enforce our Terms; and protect users and the Service.
  • Debug, monitor, and secure the Service (including rate-limiting and operational logs).

4. Moderation, reports, and automated enforcement

Users can report accounts for review. We store reports (including the reporter, the reported account, and the reason). We also use automated rules to help enforce the Terms and protect the community.

Report escalation thresholds: based on the number of unique reporters for a reported account in the current reporting cycle, the Service may apply the following actions:

  • 5 unique reporters: forced deactivation for 30 days.
  • 10 unique reporters: forced deactivation for 90 days.
  • 15 unique reporters: account is soft-deleted (treated as permanently removed from the Service).

We may take action sooner or differently when needed for safety, legal compliance, or enforcement, and we may restore accounts if we determine an action was taken in error.

5. Cookies & advertising

  • Authentication cookies: we use cookies to keep you signed in and to secure sessions.
  • Advertising: the Service may display ads from third-party ad networks (currently ExoClick). We store an ad consent preference locally in your browser (for example, using local storage) and may also store it in your account (if you are logged in) to remember your choice.

Ad consent prompt behavior: when you log in, we may ask whether you want to allow ads. If you choose No, we will ask again the next time you log in. If you choose Yes, we will not ask again on future logins.

Third-party advertisers and ad networks may use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate the Service, comply with law, and enforce our policies.

  • Hosting/compute: our application may be hosted on platforms such as Vercel.
  • Database: user and content data is stored in a PostgreSQL database (often via managed providers such as Neon).
  • Media storage: uploads (images/video/audio) may be stored in S3-compatible object storage (e.g., Cloudflare R2) and served via the Service.
  • Email: we send emails via Resend (or equivalent provider configured for the Service).
  • Payments: payment processing is handled by third parties such as Paystack for subscriptions/upgrades and Stars where enabled.
  • Caching/rate limiting: we may use Redis/Upstash or similar services for performance and abuse prevention.
  • Ads: our advertising partners (such as ExoClick) may collect information for ad delivery and measurement.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to legal requests, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

7. Data retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes (such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and enforcing our Terms). Retention may vary by data type.

Some information may persist in backups for a limited period and may not be immediately removable from those backups.

8. Deactivation and deletion

A. Deactivation

You may deactivate your account via your account settings. Deactivation is intended to hide your account from other users while preserving data so you can return.

B. Deletion

If an account is deleted (for example, due to policy enforcement or administrative action), we mark the account as deleted and restrict access to it. The account may become unavailable and cannot be recovered.

Media/files: uploaded files may remain stored in our object storage and backups for some time. When an account or content is deleted, those files are intended to become inaccessible through the Service, and certain deletions may be processed asynchronously.

To request deletion of your account data, contact us at vibeapponline@gmail.com.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and security features. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of certain personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise these rights, contact vibeapponline@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity.

11. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data protection laws.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice. The “Effective date” above indicates when this policy was last updated.
